ECON 2P91: Business Econometrics
Recently we have been using the software GRETL, which stands for Gnu Regression, Econometrics and Time Series Library. This is a very good open source (free) econometrics package that can be used for an introductory course as well as for more advanced courses.
-
ECON 3P95: Topics in Applied Econometrics
An example of a course outline (from Winter 2006) can be found here.
The textbook used in this course is Topics in Applied Econometrics by Walter Enders.
The software used in this course is RATS, available on campus.
-
ECON 5P03 (Fall 2010): Graduate Econometrics (MBE)
A visual course plan/outline can be found here.
The textbook used in this course is Econometric Theory and Methods (published by Oxford University Press, New York, in October, 2003 with a 2004 copyright having ISBN 0-19-512372-7) by Russell Davidson and James G. MacKinnon. More information on this textbook (including datasets) can be found here.
Suggested software for this course (more information will be given in class):
1. Matlab
2. Ects (version 4)
3. Ox
The last 2 are free and are available for use on many different operating systems (Linux, Macintosh and Windows for example). If you are taking this course plan ahead and install one of these. You can use something else but I will be available to help with Matlab, Ox and Ects.
-
ECON 5N11 (August 2010): Mathematics and Statistics
for Economists (MBE)
This is a two weeks review course. The first week focuses on mathematical tools and methods and the second week focuses on statistics (or
vice-versa). I teach the statistics component. The key reference is Statistical Inference by George Casella and Roger L. Berger (second edition, 2002, published by Duxbury with ISBN 0-534-24312-6).
A visual course plan/outline can be found here.
